Garfield was born in an Italian restaurant in 1978. At birth Garfield weighed 5 POUNDS & 6 OUNCES.  (that is huge for a kitten).  Unfortunately the owner of the restaurant was not willing to keep Garfield. (apparently Garfield kept eating all the lasagna). Garfield was then sold to a pet store.

 

    The next thing Garfield new he was purchased by a skinny cartoonist named Jon Arbuckle.
